Another Rocktober is here, and another Floyd E. Queeb celebration
is upon us. We've got some more magical musical surprises for
everybody this year. Hope to see everyone out at the party this
year.
3-18-08:
The first few months with Marky have been a great ride, as
we are being challenged to look at each tune in a different
light and re-interpret the way we play and sing every song.
Marky has contributed a couple of new songs and has added
his vocal expertise to a few older ones as well. The jams
have been laid back, and a sense of trust and comfort in the
space between is evident in the music. Not surprising when
you add a veteran jazz cat to the mix! Thanks to all who have
supported us in this time of transition at our recent shows.
The word is that the band sounds tight, and that the bass
stylings of Marky fit right in...I couldn't agree more. The
next few shows should be interesting as we dive into a whole
new batch of tunes in preparation for the summer. See you
at a show!

So our new bass player, Marky Rossow, comes to us with a storied
past steeped in the tradition of the Grateful Dead. In a recent
conversation during rehearsal he revealed that "my 12th
grade girlfriend was a patchouli-wearin' hippy chick (see
picture below). She listened to a lot of Grateful Dead".
Cool...
It has been really interesting listening to his interpretation
of Grateful Dead tunes as well as others in our catalogue.
We've been revisiting some songs that have been collecting
dust on the shelf, and are looking at new tunes to add. Inspiration...I
think I feel some news songs coming on...
This should be an interesting incarnation of Floydian Slip.
Come on the journey with us. See you at a show!

Ok, so 2007 was forgettable:
2 bass players, one knee, lots of pedal malfunctions, too
many broken drumsticks, and 25 gigs later...
2008 can only be better.
10-28-06:
DONE!
It
has been a long ride (more than four years) and the new cd,
"Be Curious" is finally out. There are too many
people to thank for their efforts in creating this project,
but a big THANKS is still in order to all associated with
its production.
It's
a great collection of songs that have become the staple of
Floydian Slip shows over the last five years. The cd has a
mix of raw live sounding tunes and tightly arranged, carefully
produced songs. Pick up a copy and see for yourself. We hope
you enjoy it! See you soon...
8-4-06:
THE
CD IS ALMOST FINISHED!!!

From
all of us here in Floyd's world, we'd like to wish you peace
and happiness in the new year. Thanks to all who helped us
ring in the new year out on the Rock. A memorable night was
had by all, and new friendships were forged. A very special
thanks to Jason and the Bell Street Tavern for hosting us,
and to JayFro for acting as master of madness and midnight
ceremonies, and finally to Eric and Rob for helping set up
and tear down.
The stage was set at midnight, tie dye draped and drenched
in kaleidoscopic, mirror ball light. Costumes were donned
and noise makers and party hats abounded. Holst's "The
Planets-Mars" was blaring over the PA at jet engine db
(Mars, by the way, is the god of war, representing the past
history of violence we will attempt to shed at the stroke
of midnight), and JayFro addresses the revelers with reminders
to find someone to share some love with, to prepare our resolutions,
and to have one final smoke before the stroke... The countdown
begins, the energy builds, and as the bell tolls midnight
the band breaks into an inspired version of Waterfall. And
the rest of the set...well, I guess you had to be there.
My personal resolution: Spread peace and love in the new year.

Marlin Ledin, a local boy from Washburn has joined the band
as our new bass player. It has been a joy getting to know
him, and the new energy he brings to the band has revitalized
us. He comes with a wealth of experience and musical talents,
and some of you might remember Marlin sitting in with us on
a few occasions on Sitar; most notably one steamy night at
the Black Cat when we did a wicked Sitar infused jam that
led to Transcend.
We've
been relearning and reinterpreting old songs, and learning
some new tunes as well. Marlin will bring some songwriting
talents to the band, and we're sure to be learning some of
his tunes in the near future, so look for some fresh sounds
from us at the next few shows.
Speaking
of which, we'll be back at the Four Corners in December and
January, and we hear they have made some improvements to the
bar to make it more music friendly. New Years at The Bell
Street on the Island should be crazy, so get a room and join
us for some rockin' on the ol' Rock. And then we'll be at
the Black Cat for the first time since the Graduation Party
in June of 2002. This venue is very special to us, and the
energy of the place is sure to give us all some inspiration
for the show in January. See you all there...
Peace,
Olaf
